Who do you buy from?

Anyone who produces scrap metal – this includes local trades and businesses, manufacturers, other scrap metal merchants, construction and demolition contractors, blue-chip organisations, government bodies and service providers to name a few. We also welcome householders to our scrap yard.

How do I sell you my scrap metal?

Bring your metals into our scrap yard – you don’t need an appointment.

If you have larger volumes of metal and are interested in finding out about our collection service just give us a call. We will work with you to find the best solution for your material; whether it be a load and wait service or bin drop and collection.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Following the reform of the Scrap Metal Dealers Act in 2013, all buyers of scrap metal, including mobile collectors, must ask you for a copy of your photo ID and proof of address, which must be dated within three months. A UK photo driving licence is probably the easiest form of identification.

Other forms of ID include the following from this list:

  • Valid UK photo driving licence
  • Valid UK passport
  • Valid EEA passport
  • Valid UK biometric immigration document
  • Valid EU National ID card
  • Valid UK Firearm/Shotgun licence

If the document from the list above does not show a current address, it must be accompanied by:

Proof of address which must be less than 3 months old when the scrap is received

  • Bank or building society statement
  • Credit or debit card statement
  • Mortgage statement
  • Council tax demand letter or statement
  • Council rent book/Benefit book
  • Council/Housing Association agreement
  • HMRC correspondence
  • TV licence
  • UK Firearm/Shotgun licence
  • Utility bill (not a mobile phone bill)
  • Water bill

How safe is my data/information?

Your information is stored and held in accordance with GDPR regulations and the Data Protection Act 2018.

How do I get paid?

We pay you electronically via Barclaycard PDQ. You will need one of the following; a VISA debit card or VISA Electron. If you don’t have these, we can also transfer funds electronically via a BACS payment. The payment should reach your account within 2 working days, often sooner.
It has been illegal to pay cash since 2013.

How do you price the scrap metal?

We price the scrap metal by the market rate as led by the London Metal Exchange. These prices change regularly and is also grade dependant so will be priced upon visual assessment.

How far will you travel to collect my metal?

It depends on the quantity, the more there is, the further we will travel – Give us a call.

Do you have an acceptance criteria?

Yes, we do. Please give us a call to check if you are unsure if we will accept your metal.

I need to send my spouse/partner/significant other/parent in with my metal, will you be able to give them some assistance?

Yes, of course. Our friendly team will see to the manual handling.

What if I don’t bring my ID?

You will be unable to be paid and asked to return with sufficient ID as specified by the Scrap Metal Dealer’s Act 2013.

Are you open on bank holidays?

No, we are closed on all UK bank holidays and the Saturdays prior to the bank holiday Monday.
